Shawn Kilgarlin is a native of Louisiana. She co-owns the American Screening Corp., a leader in quick drug, alcohol, and diagnostic tests, with her husband, Ron Kilgarlin. She balances her professional job, family life, creative endeavors, and philanthropic work.

Career


Shawn is the Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Development for American Screening Corp. She specializes in the development of antibodies and conjugates.

In 2004, she and her husband started the company in her father-in-sunroom—Law's After eighteen years. The company has been an ISO 13485 Certified distributor of infectious disease testing, cardiac tests, fast drug and alcohol tests, and medical supplies to the U.S., South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia. It is headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The company's fundamental principles are continuous self-improvement, honesty, ethics, and commitment. Its purpose is to provide high-quality products, excellent customer service, support humankind, and aid in the fight against drug addiction.

Kilgarlin has held many positions at the corporation as an owner. Since 2012, she has worked as a quality management representative. From January 2017 to January 2022, she served as vice president of business development. She handled sales staff and assisted new customers who required assistance with drug testing.

Kilgarlin has also written novels while working at A.S.C. What Parents Need to Know About Drug Testing Their Teens, a Drug Testing Dictionary, a Workplace Drug Testing Guide, and workplace safety pamphlets on various OSHA-regulated subjects are among the books available.

From 2014 to 2020, she also operated a Catholic bookstore. She still owns Jacob's Well Inspirational Books and Gifts in Shreveport but retired from day-to-day administration in 2020. However, she is still very interested in promoting laminated prayer cards. Her current endeavor is a 75-piece Roman Catholic collection that includes Fratelli Bonella's artwork and prayer.

Kilgarlin graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1996 with a bachelor of science degree in microbiology and chemistry.

Family and creative endeavors

Kilgarlin is a mother of four kids. Her family life and beliefs have inspired many of her creative endeavors.

God's Love Letters: Overcoming Adversity, her book, explores how God's love leads to spiritual resiliency. One of the difficulties she has encountered is having a critically ill child. As she tackled that and other challenges, she discovered balance and a new path forward. She wrote the book to encourage people who are facing difficulties.

She and her husband also co-wrote Past Tense: 365 Daily Tools for Putting Stress Behind You - for Good! The book offers practical remedies to stress-related behaviors and draws on her experiences as a mother, scientist, and believer.

Kilgarlin also enjoys painting and does Christian art with her children. Art classes with her children have become "bonding time, no phones, just calm!!" She signs the artwork she makes with her daughter Isabella, I.K.S.K. Kilgarlin. She is also creating art with her daughter Juliana. Kilgarlin is also a motivating public speaker.

Volunteering for Charities

Shawn Kilgarlin's Christian faith is also evident in her charitable activity. She donates to Holy Angels, a nonprofit organization in Shreveport that provides compassion, support, and empowerment to people with intellectual and developmental impairments. During Christmas, the Kilgarlin family visited the Holy Angels campus to distribute more than 75 gifts, blessing cards, and a Merry Christmas plaque.

Although I have been blessed with professional success and a great family, I cannot picture living a fulfilled life until I give back to society, especially when my contribution can make a difference "she claims, "It is a pleasure and joy for me to support Holy Angels' remarkable work in providing compassionate care and high-quality living to those with intellectual developmental disabilities and fragile medical conditions.

Holy Angels began as a mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport in 1954. The organization became an independent 501(c) (3) nonprofit in 2006 while maintaining the same objective.

In addition, the local Chamber of Commerce presented her with the Spirit Award. She's also won a Rising Star Writing Award and was recognized as an Outstanding Diplomat.

In 2011, she was selected Professional of the Year in Health Care Support by the Cambridge Who's Who Registry. In any given year, only a few persons from each profession make the Who's Who list. The Registry chooses who to award based on their leadership abilities, professional successes, academic performance, service years, and other qualifications.
